A nutritious Wednesday

Howdy Everybody!

As you know on Wednesdays we don’t teach at the BEST Center, instead we help out with other ministries around Phnom Penh. Today Rebekah, Abigail, Whitley, and Jared helped out with the kids at the school we all went to last week. This week we started something new. Paul, Macy, and I got the privilege to be the first ones to get to see some other work that is being done. We went with a group called Partners In Progress that goes to rural villages and helps with nutrition and personal hygiene. These villages lack electricity and running water, most have either a hand pump or a well where they draw their water. The foods available to these villages lack the proper nutrition that growing kids need which results in malnourished children. Also many do not know about personal hygiene such as washing their hands and brushing their teeth. This group has several trucks that go out to at least 6 different villages and teach the children about good hygiene. They also provide a good nutritious snack for the kids. The snack is bread with peanut butter and soymilk. The snacks are all made from ingredients from Cambodia and provides them with some of the nutrients they need that their normal diet does not provide. So the three us of got to ride out with one of the trucks and see just what they do. When we arrived at the villages, some of the workers would start preparing the snack while the others would give a lesson to the children. Usually these lessons involved singing VBS songs with the kids and teaching some Bible stories, as well as teaching about personal hygiene. Once the lesson is done the kids wash their hands and get in line to receive their snack. We were able to serve these little ones their snack and it was such a blessing to get to serve them. They were very appreciative, some even said “thank you” in English. This is a great ministry they are doing for these less fortunate and it was a true blessing to get to see this work and to take part in it as well. Tomorrow it is back to teaching our students at the BEST Center. We ask that you keep all these ministries in your prayer when you pray for our team. We appreciate all the love, support, and prayers.

  1. Thanks for posting and keeping us up on the progress. We are still with you over here.May God cover your health and give you energy to persevere in service and in prayer. May there be a powerful breakthrough for Jesus in the places you walk and drive, sleep and eat. May the kids experience an insatiable thirst for the love and companionship of our Lord.
