The latest happenings in Cambodia

English classes continued as scheduled on Thursday and Friday, and a few of us got new students. We have all been very thankful for the opportunity to help these students, not only with their understanding of English but with their understanding of the Bible. Friday morning we got to enjoy a devotional and breakfast with some of our students at the BEST Center that included Khmer singing and a lesson delivered by Veasna, a graduate of the preaching school.

After a long day of teaching English, we made a trip to the children’s school run by Doris on Friday to have a VBS night with the kids. We began with a couple games of color tag before splitting up to make bracelets and sing songs. The kids proudly showed off the colorful bracelets they made at the crafts station with Abigail, Jared, Macy and Rebekah while John, Whitley, and I taught the kids some of my favorite songs from HYPE. Singing “Gimme a J’ with ~30 Khmer kids will definitely be a highlight of the trip for me. In the middle of all the VBS chaos, the electricity in the area went out for a few minutes. That did not, however, stop us from continuing with the bracelet making and song singing by candle light.

Today we were able to go to the Russian Market and the Central Market to do some shopping. We also were able to get massages this afternoon to help relax after our hard week of teaching 7 hours a day. We will resume English class on Monday. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

P.S. We are having some technical difficulties but we will have some pictures up on the blog as soon as we can!
