Well our whole team is finally in Phnom Penh! All the girls made it here around 11:00 am yesterday. We got to Rebekah's parents' house, ate lunch, and got situated in our rooms. We picked up the guys at about 4:30 pm and went home and at dinner and hung out. There a lot of differences between Cambodia and Texas:
1. the houses go up, not out - Macy and I live on the fourth floor of a five story house but the house isn't really that big.
2. there really isn't any organization to the road system - Most people ride motos which makes the roads super chaotic. There are no stop signs or stop lights so you pretty much just go when you want and where you want. People drive super slow though, so there aren't that many wrecks, which is good because people carry their babies and small children on the backs of their motos.
3. fast food is a little different - When going down the street, we saw all sorts of different animals, insects, and fruit, a lot of which I had never seen before. I think we are all pretty excited to try the different types of foods though..
We have been trying to get acclimated to the time change so we haven't done much in the past 24 hours but today we get the opportunity to go to a wedding. Everyone is pretty excited to get a little taste of the culture here.
Keep us in your prayers!
In Him,
Whitley Lanier :)

We're on our way!
Tomorrow (Wendesday) at 9:45 pm Rebekah, Macy, Whitley and I will be flying out of DFW and on our way to Phnom Penh. We will be changing planes in Los Angeles and Taipei, Taiwan. We should arrive mid morning on Friday. Jared is also leaving tomorrow, but will be flying separately. John and Paul have been working with the church in Bangkok, Thailand for a week and will join us in Phnom Penh on Friday.
As I was packing today I have gotten more and more excited to leave. Even though we've been planning for months, today it sunk in that we are really leaving. A week ago our team spent a few days at Bastrop State Park for a team retreat before we all headed home. The great time we had there together bodes well for how we will get along for the next month. As we dealt with issues such as a broken tent and delays in schedule we were forced to get out of our comfort zones and be flexible. I hope this gave us all a small taste of how our patience and comfort will be stretched over the next few weeks. Pleas pray for us all to have patience and for us to show God's love in everything we do. I hope God will keep the excitement we have now going strong until the end. Also, please keep the students we will meet in just a few days in your prayers. I know God is working in their hearts and lives to prepare them for the message we get to share with them.
We will be in touch soon to let you know we arrived safely. We will rotate who writes the posts throughout the trip so you can hear from all of us and see different perspectives of our experiences here. We can't wait to share this journey with you!

Less than one month away!
Howdy!
We are so excited about our opportunity to serve in Phnom Penh this summer! We have been meeting as a team weekly to prepare mentally, emotionally, and spiritually for the things God has in store for us. It's hard to believe that in less than one month we will be serving the Lord in Cambodia! We cannot express to you enough how much we appreciate your thoughts and prayers as we spread God's Word. Please continue to pray for us as a team, that the Lord would continue to prepare our hearts for this mission and that He would prepare the hearts of those that we will be serving overseas!
Love,
AFC Cambodia Team
